Steve is CEO of Planet First, sustainability consultancy and creator and custodian of The Planet Mark™.
Steve provides strategic and practical advice on sustainability programmes in corporations to SMEs. He is passionate about communicating the benefits of sustainability through words, images, products and the built environment.
A former civil engineer, marketing CEO and director of Guinness World Record events, Steve brings together practical solutions and the vision to reach mass audiences.
Steve lives on a small holding in East Sussex with his wife and three boys.
Sarah has worked for Planet First since its inception, and is responsible for the delivery of all certifications. She is always looking for new efficiencies and improvements to the certification process to make the customer and team experience even more enjoyable. Her current aim is to build on and create a friendly, family feel to the team and the network of holders of The Planet Mark™.
Sarah’s work in sustainability started after her Masters in Forestry at Oxford, and includes experience in multiple sectors and countries over the last 15 years.
Sarah's love of nature and passion for protecting the environment stems from childhood walks in local parks and studying David Attenborough’s nature series in A-level biology. She continues to nurture a strong affinity for nature in her family life, and loves hearing how other people’s ties to the natural world have manifested. When she’s not working or being a mum, Sarah occasionally finds the time to make patchwork quilts for family and friends.
Lilly joined Planet First in May 2013.
Lilly is a Top 20 trained Chartered Certified Accountant. She spent eight years specialising in corporate restructuring and investment management, which gave her solid experience in managing the finances of a diverse range of businesses.
Following this, Lilly's passion for hands-on business management led her to work as an internal Financial controller and management accountant for a portfolio of SMEs, before becoming Financial controller at Planet First. She was made Financial director in 2017.
When she isn't working, Lilly is busy looking after her two young children. A highlight of her parenting career is the day her son voluntarily joined the school Green Team. Lilly loves interior design, live music and great wine.
Stephen is a successful entrepreneur, business leader and strategy consultant.
A seasoned CEO who has built several successful tech-based businesses, Stephen now specialises in board-level leadership where he can invest and apply his knowledge to the commercialisation of technology such as the Internet of Things, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, mobile payments and other secure transactions.
Stephen is a non-executive director of several companies, including eshard (an innovative cyber-security company), FIME (a world leader in consultancy and testing for payments technology) and Health Apps (a developer of software to help people achieve a healthy lifestyle and prevent illness).
Stephen lives in Hampshire and enjoys outdoor sports including golf, sailing and skiing.

Acting head of Certification
Andrew has been Acting Head of Certification for The Planet Mark™ since May 2016. His role includes managing The Planet Mark™ certification and our Code of Practice, ensuring that all services provided by Planet First, the creator and custodian of The Planet Mark™, comply with the latest relevant standards and best practice.
Andrew has worked with environmental technologies and sustainability services for over 15 years. He is a member of the Natural Capital Coalition and technical working groups for the UNEP Finance Initiative/GHG Protocol Portfolio Carbon Initiative, as well as previously for the CDP Climate Change and Food & Beverages sector groups.
Andrew is a recognised expert on greenhouse gas emissions and environmental reporting and was part of the core group that developed UK Government GHG reporting guidance for business.
Nadia joined Planet First in January 2017 as sustainability consultant, responsible for guiding customers to achieve and retain The Planet Mark™ Certification.
Nadia brings with her over eight years of carbon management and energy management consulting experience. She has worked with a number of private and public sector clients, including Imperial College Healthcare NHS, Imperial College London and Toyota GB, helping them manage the energy consumption of their estates to reduce operational costs, comply with environmental legislation and demonstrate corporate social responsibility.
Nadia has expertise in the development of carbon and energy management strategies, carbon management training, carbon accounting, progress reporting, environmental regulation compliance and advising investment in low carbon technologies.
Projects she managed have been nominated and won at the prestigious CIBSE Low Carbon Awards and her team was winner of the 2011 CIBSE Low Carbon Performance Award -Training for building Performance.
Flavia has provided environmental data management and strategic data analysis projects for more than three years to a varied portfolio of clients within the property sector whilst working at a multinational real estate company.
She has also provided assurance and verification work aligned with AA1000AS standard across a range of projects including legislative research, analytical data review, evidence collection and target report reviews.
A trained Biologist, holding a BSc (hons) in Biology, Flavia also holds a Diploma in Environmental and Auditing Reporting, a certificate on GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and is currently undertaking the IEMA Environmental Management certification.
Her knowledge covers the different types of environmental audit, their aims and the difference between audits, reviews and inspections, emphasising the auditors and auditee’s responsibilities for opening, performing and closing the environmental audits.
George joined Planet first in October 2017 and is responsible for assisting in the marketing and communications activities for The Planet Mark™.
Prior to joining Planet First, George was based in Brussels where he worked in the communications department of a not-for-profit focused on sustainable agriculture. Here he honed his skills in devising content marketing and social media strategies. He is passionate about communicating sustainability via the mediums of content curation and graphic design.

Business Development manager
Daniel joined Planet First in September 2018 as Business Development Manager. He has over 15 years experience in Sales and Business Development within the recruitment, travel and bancassurance sectors. Having won large International contracts with Rolex, British Olympic Association and Etihad Airways, Daniel brings a wealth of knowledge within sales.
Outside of work Daniel is a qualified Football and Tennis coach but also coaches Rugby in his spare time to kids at his local rugby club.
Nicholas Cass-Beggs has recently joined Planet First as their Learning and Engagement Manager. He champions sustainability by leading by example, questioning and then incorporating eco practices into all aspects of his life. Nicholas ran a business “Green Handy Man” following up on private residential eco audits to provide renovations with low environmental impact, both in the immediate and long-term. Nick is also an Actor, and a Business Presence Consultant helping professionals refine their verbal communication skills.
